President Bush with Githa Natarajan

 

Githa Natarajan, M.Sc., was recognized as State Teacher of the Year for Washington, DC in 2007 (she is pictured at left with President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush).  She is committed to helping her pupils achieve their full potential and seeks to educate students, colleagues, families, and the community by establishing strong connections. 

Githa began her teaching career in her home town of Toronto, Canada.  After moving to Washington, DC she taught kindergarten, second grade, and third grade in the District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) for twelve years.  Githa also taught second and third grade at Georgetown Day School (GDS) for eight years and was the assistant principal at GDS Lower School.  Currently, she is a Lower School Faculty member at the Whittle School & Studios in Wasington, DC.
